KALAW RESTING RESORT
Kalaw, Myanmar | 2016
Restored by the lush landscape of the Kalaw hills in Myanmar, the Kalaw Resting Resort is conceived as a small welcoming village for travelers on the road to Inle Lake, not far away.
The resort hangs on a relief with sweet profiles, scattered on its sides by the various types of houses that make up its design.
The dwellings stretch toward the surrounding hilly environment, camouflaged one to the other by the dense vegetation of the surrounding natural landscape, each opening a breathtaking view on the surrounding.
The reference and inspiration for the housing type is obviously taken from the local construction typology: the wood of the ceilings and patios where to relax in the open space, the stone for the solid walls, surrounded by large windows through which light and nature also become the protagonists of the interior design of the dwellings.
As the main promenade inside the village, a unique path, consisting of a wooden walkway winding up the hill, proceeds with a series of stairs and ramps culminating on the clearing at the top of the hill, where in a large common area there are entertainment and dining facilities, embellished with large terraces to enjoy an exquisite view of the surrounding landscape.
